January 2018 Real Estate Report

Welcome to my monthly Edmonton Area real estate report for January 2018. I can’t believe how fast the month flew by and that the Eagles won the Super Bowl! It was a great game to watch and I wish more could be like it. Are the Oilers still in the playoff hunt……..??

January was an active month for residential sales the Edmonton Census Metropolitan Area (CMA). Sales increased in all three categories compared to January 2017 with Single Family homes up 12.85%, Condominiums up 14.41% and Duplex/Rowhouse’s up 22.08%.

The average price of Single Family homes and Duplex/Rowhouse’s increased 2.89% and 3.44% compared to December 2107 while condominiums declined by 3.62%.

Buyers weren’t the only one’s active in January as Seller’s added to the overall inventory by 2.97% month over month and 7.05% year over year.

I’m looking forward to seeing how February evolves. Typically buyers and sellers get more active as we move towards the spring season and January gave us a pretty good kick start.
