September 2019 Edmonton Area Real Estate Report

The September 2019 Edmonton Area Real Estate activity followed the seasonal trend with overall sales declining from August as we moved into the fall season. What wasn’t expected however was a 26.8% increase in Condo sales as compared to 2018! It was nice to see stronger sales in the category as it has struggled with high inventory over the last couple of years. I wonder if those renters who’ve been sitting on the fence are deciding to buy rather than rent.

Prices certainly favour buyers, as they were down month over month and in comparison, to 2018. With all the talk from our Political Leaders about providing affordable housing I say, move west young folks!

A quick summary of the month shows the Single Family sales declined 2.9% year over year but the Duplex category increased by 7.5%. I wonder if pricing and young families are driving this demand.

Let’s see how October rolls folks, and please get out there and vote! This is our turf and we have a right to say how its run!
